In a proper school, no fact would ever
be
presented
as a soulless one, for the simple reason that there is no such thing.
Every facet of reality discovered where it lives,
startles with its wonder, beauty, meaning Marjorie
Spock, Steiner Educator, 1973
In 2008 this course will be
offered by the Melbourne Rudolf Steiner Seminar in Melbourne only.
In 2009 Glenaeon Rudolf Steiner School will offer
this second-year training course in Rudolf Steiner Education under the
auspices of the Melbourne Rudolf Steiner Seminar. Minimum numbers apply.
All
modules of the Diploma in Anthroposophical Studies are a pre or co
requisite.
Graduates of the 2 year pathway leading to the Advanced Diploma of Rudolf Steiner Education may use proof of this qualification to apply for recognition to a Higher Education provider. Previous graduates have received up to 2 years advanced standing towards a Bachelor of Education.
This provides a unique pathway for those wishing to establish a professional career in teaching, but one based on the creative wisdom of Steiner Education. Graduates can chose to teach in the mainstream education system or apply to teach within the growing Steiner school movement.
This course seeks to train teachers who can reveal to the child the inherent beauty and wonder of the world and the potential goodness of the human being. It seeks experiences of truth and beauty, which can lead to understanding and wisdom.
As the world is a unity, so ideally will our knowledge of the world be experienced as a unity. With the background of the first year of study in philosophy and the arts students are able to enter the Steiner Curriculum of main lesson themes and learn to artistically develop lessons out of the wellspring of their own creativity.
With lectures and artistic tutorials each term, followed by classroom teaching experience, students build a knowledge of the way the child meets the world at each age and the teaching methods which most healthily support this process.
In the curriculum, children’s physical,
spiritual and emotional development, are all interwoven with the
subject matter and teaching methods. Children’s clarity of
thought,
sensitivity of feeling and strength of will are developed harmoniously.
Nestled on a hillside of a secluded bush valley with its creek which flows down to Middle Harbour, Glenaeon school is still only 15 minutes from the city centre and less than ½ hour from the northern beaches of Sydney. Surrounded by tall gum trees, turpentine trees and areas of remnant rainforest, the grounds adjoin the harbour bush reserve with its overhanging rock caves and waterfalls.
Students can partake in the life of the school, with its seasonal festivals, drama performances and community activities.
